Post Office Building

The Station Post Building and its truly rich history

Den Haag

The Station Post Building has a truly rich history. Chief state architect G.C. Bremer developed this office in 1932, whereafter the construction began in 1940 and taken into use in 1949, after being temporarily halted because of the war. The Station Post building was Bremer’s last design and it became a national monument because of its special qualities, glass building blocks and facade sculptures by Hildo Krop.

The old office building was first completely stripped and renovated. Large voids were created in between the floors, creating interesting views into the building and stimulating interaction between its users.

The redevelopment restored the building to its former glory with respects to its past. PostNL established its headquarters here; thus coming home after a couple of decades. The rest of the building offers a co-working space that attracts young, creative companies with its modern concept and vibrant atmosphere.

The redevelopment of the Stationspostgebouw was the first realisation in the development of the HS quarter, the area development in Laakhavens around Hollands Spoor station.

The developer  of the Stationspostgebouw is Life Makes Sens: a partnership between LIFE.NL and Sens.

The Stationspostgebouw was sold to Perial Asset Management (PFO2) in 2020.
